Privacy Policy

Effective date: September 25, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Trabit ("Trabit", "we", "our", or "us") handles information when you use the Trabit app for iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch (the "App") and the website trabit.app (the "Website"). By using the App or the Website, you acknowledge this Policy.

In short: we do not operate servers that store your personal or health data, we do not sell data, and we do not use your data for advertising.

1. Who is responsible

Trabit is responsible for the App and the Website. For any privacy question or request, contact support@trabit.app.

2. Information the App handles

Depending on the features you use, the App handles:

The App does not ask for your name, email address, phone number, contacts, or payment details, and it never uses your location except for the optional weather lookup described in Section 9.

3. Where your data is stored

We do not own or operate any server that receives or stores your App data.

4. Apple Intelligence and the coach

The coach, natural language logging, meal estimates, and pantry scanning use Apple's Foundation Models framework and Apple's on-device text recognition. Most requests are processed on your device by Apple's on-device model. On iOS 27, the enhanced coach can also use Apple Private Cloud Compute. Apple states that data sent to Private Cloud Compute is used only to fulfil the request and is not stored or made accessible to Apple. We do not receive this data, and no third-party AI provider is used.

Coach features require a device that supports Apple Intelligence. Meal photo estimates and fridge or cupboard scans require iOS 27.

5. Apple Health (HealthKit)

6. Friends and competitions

Social features are optional and require iCloud. When you use them, the following is stored in Apple's CloudKit public database:

You choose what to share, one goal at a time, and you can stop sharing at any time. Your list of friends is stored in your private iCloud database. Raw logs, coach conversations, photos, and Apple Health data are never shared.

7. Photos and the share extension

Photos you capture for meal, receipt, or fridge scanning are processed on your device as described in Section 4. Photos or text you send to Trabit from the iOS share sheet are saved in your own App data for you to review. We do not receive them.

8. How we use information

Information is used only to provide the App's features to you: tracking habits, showing progress, generating coach suggestions, and enabling the social features you turn on. We do not use your information for advertising, profiling for third parties, or tracking across apps and websites.

9. Third parties

The App relies on services provided by Apple Inc. (iCloud and CloudKit, HealthKit, Apple Intelligence, Private Cloud Compute, and WeatherKit), which are governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. The App contains no third-party analytics, advertising, crash reporting, or tracking SDKs. We do not sell or rent personal information.

Weather. Weather awareness is off by default. If you turn it on, the App sends a rough location to Apple's WeatherKit service to get the forecast. The location is kept in memory on your device for a few hours and is never stored or sent to us. You can turn weather awareness off in Profile, Coach, or revoke location access in iOS Settings.

Calendar. Calendar awareness is off by default. If you turn it on, the busy hours per day are read and used on your device only.

Food barcodes. When you scan a food barcode, the App looks the product up in Open Food Facts, an open, non-profit food database. Only the barcode number is sent. No identifiers, health data, or other information about you are included. Open Food Facts may, like any website, see your IP address when the request is made.

The App includes an optional donation link. If you choose to donate, the payment is handled by PayPal under its own privacy policy. We receive only what PayPal shares with recipients of a payment.

10. The Website

The Website is hosted on GitHub Pages. It uses GoatCounter to count page views. GoatCounter does not use cookies and does not collect personal data. The Website sets no cookies. If you choose a light or dark theme, that preference is stored in your browser only. As with any website, the hosting provider may process technical data such as IP addresses to deliver the pages securely.

11. Retention and deletion

Your data stays on your device and in your iCloud until you delete it. You can delete habits and logs in the App. Deleting the App removes its data from that device. To delete the synced copy, go to iOS Settings, your name, iCloud, and remove Trabit's data. To remove shared social data, stop sharing the relevant goals in the App. You can export your data as a CSV file from Profile.

12. Your rights

Depending on where you live, including the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and California, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or port your personal data, and to object to or restrict its processing. Because your data is held on your device and in your own iCloud, you can exercise most of these rights directly in the App or in your Apple Account settings. For anything else, email support@trabit.app. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under California law.

13. Security

Your data is protected by your device's security and by Apple's iCloud security measures. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

14. Children

The App is not directed at children under 13, or the minimum age required in your country. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

15. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. The effective date at the top shows when it was last changed. Significant changes will be noted in the App's release notes or on this page.
